Zad Archery Review

A short Steam incremental with a real flask-and-Guardian end, not an endless idle.

Review

Zad Archery launched on Steam on September 1, 2026 for $6.99 (10 percent off at launch). Samharia Studios is developer and publisher. Reviews sat at Mostly Positive — about 76 percent of roughly 194 Steam reviews in the first days. This page is a buyer’s guide, not a score out of 100. Played as a single-player incremental: shoot waves, spend three wallets, stop at wave 50 and the King.

If you want a 40-hour autobattler, this is the wrong $7. If you want a polished five-hour bow incremental with a skill tree that actually spends gold, it is the right one.

What it does well

The loop is readable in two minutes. Arrow Fall is a ground click. Archer is free. Sniper keeps Archer skills and lets you walk while you shoot. Loot cards print the equip and sell chords on the item itself. Gathering is a tab, not a fetch quest. Those facts are why the beginner guide is short on philosophy and long on “do not Ctrl+Shift the first rare.”

Presentation matches Samharia’s other 2D incrementals: hillside, bullseye monsters, brown tray. Steam Deck is Playable. System requirements are 512 MB RAM and 400 MB disk. Mouse-only is a listed accessibility option. Cloud and Family Sharing are on.

The 1.0.2 patch was fast and aimed at real blockers: gems on lower waves, missing Guardians, Defeat the King while Steam was down, native resolution. That is the difference between a $7 dump and a studio that reads its own board. Details: patch notes.

What launch-week players actually complained about

  • Length. Designed around five hours. Wave 50 is the cap. Idle fans who wanted a month-long tree called it short. That is honest. 100 percent stretches it; it does not become Cookie Clicker.
  • Guardians. Fourth and fifth spawn bugs locked the King. Patched. If you still bounce, follow guardians.
  • Mining site. Not a location. Gathering tab.
  • Inventory chords. Right-click equips; Ctrl+Shift+right-click sells. The itch.io demo trained bad habits. Steam is cleaner. Controls.
  • Locked jobs without names. Five jobs exist. Only Archer and Sniper are named in live UI. This wiki will not invent the other three. Jobs.

itch.io comments on the HTML5 demo also flagged tablet zoom hiding the left tray and browser sell bugs. Buy the Steam build.

Who should buy it

Buy if you liked Samharia’s other short incrementals and you can finish a game in an evening. Buy if you want a bow kit that stacks instead of a prestige wipe. Buy if $7 for a Mostly Positive 2D tree sounds fair.

Skip if you need co-op, live ops, or a season pass. Skip if wave 50 will make you leave a negative review titled “too short” — that is the design, not a missing file. Skip if you only play on a phone browser; the itch demo is a taste, not the 1.0 campaign.

Steam Deck players: Playable, mouse-first. Set native resolution. The tray must be visible or you will think alchemy does not exist (alchemy).

How this wiki uses the review

After you buy, do not start on this page again. Start on Getting Started, then the skill tree, then Sniper. Use the farming planner when a job button is expensive. Use achievements if you care about the 12 Steam pops. Rankings: tier list.

Official store, Discord, and the demo link sit on the links hub. This review will move if a 1.1 content drop changes the five-hour promise. Until then, the honest sentence is: a complete, short, mostly-positive bow incremental with a patched King.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Zad Archery questions.

Is Zad Archery worth $6.99?

Yes if you want a five-hour incremental with a real skill tree and a King fight. No if you want a live-service grind. Steam sat Mostly Positive at launch.

How long is Zad Archery?

Samharia designed about five hours. Loot and 100 percent achievements stretch it. Wave 50 is the combat cap.

Does it run on Steam Deck?

Steam lists Playable. Use native resolution so the left tabs stay visible. The game is mouse-first.

Should I play the itch.io demo first?

Optional. The HTML5 demo is shorter and buggier on inventory. The Steam 1.0 build is the campaign this review describes.
