Zad Archery Crafting and Loot
Bows, armor, failed crafts, and the Rare rolls you should never vendor.
Crafting is the anvil tab on the left tray, one slot below jobs. Loot is everything that falls off a target: gold, green gems, blue craft tokens, and equipment cards. Zad Archery’s store page promises unique rare loot per target family and a deep bow/armor craft. The live UI is more specific than that slogan, and the click chords on item cards are easy to fumble.
Read controls for the bind list, then come back here for what the numbers mean.
Currencies on the drop
Three wallets sit in the top-left:
- Gold coins — skill tree, some gathering level-ups.
- Green gems — jobs and job skill ranks.
- Blue tokens — crafting level-ups. A Crafting Lv.4 screenshot shows Lv. Up for 25 blue tokens, with the next bow base at Lv.5.
Target families matter. Claw targets and bow targets have separate gem-chance lines on the skill tree. If your gems stall, you are probably killing the wrong silhouette or you skipped the chance node. Patch 1.0.2 made gems count when you farm a wave below your highest, so hovering a rich wave is now a real strategy (see the farming planner).
The anvil loop
Crafting has a level, a level-up button, and a result window. A live card shows:
- Crafting, Lv.4
- Next Bow Base at Lv.5
- A produced item named Armor1 +2, rarity Rare, item level 1
- Buttons: Take Item and Failed
That Failed label is the tell. Crafts can miss. Do not assume every blue token becomes a god roll. Take Item when the roll is usable; eat the fail and craft again when the roll is empty.
Demo commentary mentioned recipe unlocks such as Rough Bow, Padded Armor, and later Hunter’s Bow. Those names match the “bow base” language on the level-up tooltip. Spend blue tokens to raise the craft level when the tooltip names a new base. Spending them to reroll a mediocre armor while the next base is one level away is how you stall jobs later, because you will want that base on the class you just unlocked.
Which rolls to keep
The Armor1 +2 example is a teaching item:
- 30 HP with +5 on the upgrade line
- +60% gold gained
- +1 Arrowfall Projectile
- Range bands printed on the right (15–25 HP, 60–80 gold, 1–2 projectiles)
Keep anything with extra Arrow Fall projectiles. That modifier is a skill-tree node you would have paid gold for. Keep large gold-gain percents while you are still buying the tree. Keep raw HP once guardians exist; they hit harder than wave trash.
Vendor whites and empty fails. Do not vendor a Rare because the name is Armor1. The name is a slot, not a verdict.
Equip and sell without deleting a run
The same armor card prints:
- Right Click to Equip
- CTRL + SHIFT + Right Click to Sell for 6 gold
Six gold is nothing compared with a +1 Arrow Fall roll. The itch.io web demo trained people to hold Ctrl+Shift because inventory was buggy; some players sold every good item. On Steam, hover, read, then right-click once. If Ctrl+Shift feels sticky, click off the item and press the modifiers again before you touch loot. There is no documented undo.
Loot versus alchemy versus gathering
Alchemy is the flask tab next to the anvil. Samharia lists potions that buff you or hurt enemies. Do not dump crafting tokens into alchemy until the anvil has a bow base you are happy wearing. Gathering (Herbalism, Mining, Fishing) feeds both crafts and potions; it is not a hidden map. Full routing is on Mining and Gathering.
Shaping, masteries, and card systems are listed as extra 1.0 content. Treat them as sinks that appear after the anvil is online, not as hour-one goals. The beginner guide is still the spend order if you are lost.
When you need a ranked keep/sell list, use the builds tier list. When you need official patch changes to gem counting, use patch notes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Zad Archery questions.
What currency upgrades the crafting level?
Blue tokens dropped in combat. Gold is for the skill tree. Green gems are for jobs.
Can a craft fail?
Yes. The result window includes a Failed state next to Take Item. Reroll; do not assume every spend is a Rare.
Which armor stats are actually good?
Arrow Fall projectiles first, then gold-gain while you are buying the tree, then HP before guardians. See the builds list.
I sold a good item with Ctrl+Shift. Can I get it back?
No recovery is documented. Read the card. Right-click equips; the sell chord is the three-key combination printed on the item.
