Zad Archery Skill Tree
Spend coins on charges and gem chance, not vanity damage, until Sniper is online.
The skill tree is the first left-hand tab: a brown node graph sitting under the hillside while combat keeps running. Samharia markets it as a tree with no wasted points. That is marketing. There are still nodes you should delay. This page is the spend order that matches how Zad Archery actually pays you: more casts, more gems, then more damage.
Open this tab every time a wave dumps a pile of gold. Do not let coins sit while a charge node is affordable. Jobs, crafting, and gathering use different currencies; the tree is the gold sink.
How the graph is laid out
Screenshots of the early tree show a hub star with branches toward a bow, a target, extra shots, and utility. Nodes light up gold when purchased and stay dim until you walk the connecting line. You do not respec in 1.0. Buy as if the point is gone forever.
The tree is not the same as job skills. Explosive Arrow, Sniper orbs, and the locked class kits live on the jobs tab. Mixing those two screens is the most common new-player mistake after selling a Rare by accident (see controls).
Full-game copy promised 100+ nodes. The demo exposed the first cluster; the Steam release fills the rest as you push waves, unlock jobs, and open gathering. You will not see Mining power nodes while Gathering is still level 0.
Buy order that does not stall you
Use this sequence until Sniper is unlocked and gem income is visible:
- Arrow Fall charges. One charge at Arrowfall: 1 is a dead click every cooldown. Extra charges let you dump rain on a packed wave instead of waiting.
- Arrow Fall cooldown and automation. Let’s Try footage shows Arrow Fall becoming automated. That is the idle half of the incremental. Buy it the moment it appears.
- Gem chance for claw targets, then bow targets. Jobs and later skills price in green gems. A 20–25% claw gem node is more valuable than a small damage line. Patch 1.0.2 also made gems count when you farm a level below your highest, so this node keeps paying after you start hovering.
- Attack speed and extra projectiles. These multiply Arrow Fall and auto-shots together.
- Movement speed. Useful once Sniper can shoot while walking. Earlier, it only helps you reach the next clump a fraction faster.
- Flat damage and max life. Buy leftover gold here. HP matters more once guardians exist; see guardians.
If two nodes are equal in coin cost, pick the one that generates a resource (gems, charges) over the one that spends a resource more efficiently. Incremental games in this style reward engines, not burst.
Nodes people overbuy
Monster movement speed slow is tempting because the lane feels fairer. Take a small amount if you keep getting clipped, then stop. You will outscale walkers with projectiles.
Max-life rolling on items is a crafting problem, not a tree problem. If your armor already has +HP, do not mirror it on the tree until guardians hit hard.
Do not dump the entire gold pile into a single branch because it looks like a class identity. Archer identity is on the jobs tab. The tree is account-wide fuel.
How the tree talks to other systems
- Jobs: Gem chance nodes exist so you can afford Sniper and the three locked classes. Starving the tree of gem nodes to rush a job still delays the next job.
- Crafting: Some tree lines mention craft unlocks such as Rough Bow or Padded Armor in demo commentary. If a node literally unlocks a recipe, buy it; that is cheaper than failing anvil rolls. Details on crafting.
- Gathering: Later branches reference mining, herbing, and profession power. They stay dark until the pickaxe tab is alive. Do not hunt a Mining Site on the hillside; it is a tab, documented on mining.
- Guardians: Perk and mastery copy on the Steam page (Shaping, Masteries, Guardian Perks) sit on top of this tree, not inside the first star. Push waves, then come back.
Practical loop
Clear a wave, scoop coins, open the tree, buy one node, close the tray, fight. Do not pause for a five-minute theorycraft in hour one. After Sniper, swap to a slower loop: farm a comfortable wave with gem chance online, buy two or three nodes, then push. The farming planner is the spreadsheet version of that sentence.
When you want a ranked list instead of a route, use the skills tier list and the builds list. New players should still finish Getting Started before they copy an endgame path.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Zad Archery questions.
Can I reset the Zad Archery skill tree?
1.0 does not advertise a free respec. Buy resource nodes first so a wrong damage pick is not fatal.
Is the skill tree the same as job skills?
No. The tree is the gold graph on the first tab. Explosive Arrow and Sniper orbs are on the jobs tab and cost gems.
Why do gem chance nodes matter if I already do damage?
Jobs, some crafts, and later skills are priced in green gems. Patch 1.0.2 also counts gems on lower waves, so the node keeps working while you farm.
When do gathering nodes appear?
After you open the pickaxe tab and level Gathering. See mining rather than waiting for a hillside POI.
